Waste Food Increase Global Warming

The large amount of food that ended in the dump contributes significantly in the increase of global warming. Because, rotting food creates more methane gas.

Methane is 23 times stronger than C02 to contribute to the formation of greenhouse gas emissions, that is why waste foods in the trash contribute to global warming. The world community should be more aware of the importance of dealing with food and the uses of natural resources, because as recorded every year 1.3 billion tons of foods are wasted.

That amount are equivalent to the same amount produced in the entire sub-Saharan Africa, while at the same time there’s one of every seven people in the world suffer from hunger and more than 20,000 children under the age of five who die of hunger every day. It is estimated that one-third of global food production would be wasted. The food waste drains large natural resources and contributor to the negative environmental impacts. In fact, global food production to drain 25 percent of the habitable land, 70 percent of freshwater consumption and 80 percent of deforestation, but pushed 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. This is the biggest cause of biodiversity loss and land.

Wasted food means that all the resources and inputs used in the production of the food is also lost. Therefore, food waste is not only an impact on the financial waste, but also will cause environmental pollution and wasteful consumption of transport fuel in storage and distribution.
