Eating Fruits Reduce Risk Of Aneurysm

Results of recent study found that eating more fruits can reduce the risk of developing dangerous blood vessel condition known as abdominal aortic aneurysm. Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a rare condition, but it can be deadly. This condition is the swelling of the lower aorta, the major blood vessels that supply the body.

Ultrasound, which uses sound waves to take pictures of structures in the body, can easily detect the condition.

In the study the researchers divided more than 80,000 people aged 46 to 84 years into four equal groups based on the number of how many fruits and vegetables they consume.

In 13 years of hospital and death records showed 1,086 people were infected by abdominal aortic aneurysm.

The researchers found that people who reported eating more than two servings of fruit per day have a 25% lower risk of developing abdominal aortic aneurysm. In addition, 43% had a lower relapse of aneurysm when compared to those who ate less.
