Lasik Help Fix Your Cornea Shape

State of the eye such as myopia (nearsightedness), hypermetropia (farsightedness), and astigmatism (cylindrical eye) is not fatal to the health of the body. However, the problems can disrupt daily activities.

However, with the advances in technology, eye disorders can be overcome with simple steps, one procedure that is now a choice is lasik surgery. Basically, LASIK which stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis means opening the cornea surface layer and then forming to the desired shape.

An ophthalmologist explained the disorder nearsightedness, farsightedness, or cylinder is a form of corneal problems. So it is not damaged eyes. Only the shape of the cornea making light does not fit into the eye.

On the condition of nearsightedness, the cornea is too convex. The higher the minus measurement the more thick or bulky the shape of the cornea is. In contrast to the farsightedness tend to be flat or rather flat shape corneas. While for the cylinders eyes conditions of the corneal seem to be convex in a particular section.

With LASIK technology, the cornea can be reshaped using a laser to the desired shape. It proves to be effective and safe in correcting eye deficiencies.

The procedure itself is relatively simple. The first step is to open up the surface layer of the cornea, then the excimer laser to remove some layers of the cornea to change the shape of the cornea. Layers of the cornea, which opened earlier or called flap, is closed again and will naturally attached back a few minutes later without the need for stitching at all.
