Too Much Alcohol Consumption Can Result To Skin Cancer

Scientists believe too much of the consumption of alcohol can result in the emergence of a series of reactions in the body that makes the skin susceptible to cancer.

According to the researchers, shortly after entry into the body, ethanol in alcohol will soon be converted into acetaldehyde and this compound makes the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation exposure can alter the body’s normal immune of people who consume alcohol. This change, which in turn will lead to greater cell damage and eventually lead to the formation of skin cancer.

This risk is proportional to the intake of alcohol, so for those who consume 50 grams of ethanol per day have a 55 percent higher risk of this deadly type of skin cancer that is melanoma.
