Brain Can Damage When Lack Of Sleep

Lack of sleep brings many negative impacts on health. Starting from weakness, to heart problems. In fact a recent study found that the brain can be damaged due to lack of sleep.

The study found that lack of sleep one night alone can cause changes in the brain, where the body will increase the production of chemical compounds in the body that indicate brain damage.

The body has a chemical compound called NSE and S-100B. When excessive in number, will make brain disorders, such as during a concussion. During sleep, the brain cleanses itself of toxins. This process makes the NSE and S-100B increases to help purge toxins.

This study supports the results of previous studies which states that lack of sleep can increase the risk of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. The increase in these chemicals in the blood after not sleeping indicates an impairment or loss of a small portion of brain tissue.
